29 April - 3 MayMagical Island of Ekskäret

What is Sanctum?

The word sanctum refers to a sacred, protected inner space - the kind of place where you can exhale and come back to yourself. To us, it’s a beautiful image of what we're inviting you into: through the island we’re held by, the quiet context we create together, and the sanctuary within you.

During these days, you’re invited to let life soften and slow down. For those longing for more clarity and inner spaciousness—not by adding more, but by stripping away the noise and mental clutter.

🌀 A place where you can step out of the world’s rhythm and into your own - without musts and shoulds, without a schedule, without pressure
🌀 A place where the body can soften and the nervous system can regulate
🌀 A place where time slows down and the soul can catch up
🌀 A place where you can open to deep presence and recalibrate with yourself—not to become someone you’re not, but to move closer to what is sacred in you, at your core, in your essence

This is a “solo together” retreat - you come here to be with yourself, in the way your soul longs for. And at the same time: you’re not alone. You’re here within a held and supportive context - with the island’s energy, immersed in nature, and alongside other people who have also felt a longing to slow down. Each of you is on your own journey, but side by side - with no social expectations.

Because unlike many retreats today, where the high pace of life often continues with a full schedule, Sanctum offers a pause from performance - an exhale into radical non-demand, held by the place and the field we create together. Here, you don’t have to be anyone other than who you are. We’re longing to welcome you, exactly as you are, right now.

Warmly welcome

Who is this for?

It’s for you, my friend, if you feel your body and soul longing 💛

Maybe you've had a bit too much for a bit too long. Maybe the pace around you hasn’t matched your inner rhythm. Maybe you’re longing for a place where you can land and simply be - or let something new emerge in its own time.

This might be the right place for you if you:

  • long to simply be for a few days, guided by your own inner compass
  • need a pause from doing, performing, holding it together for others, or constantly moving toward the next thing
  • long for “alone together”: time with yourself with the quiet support of a safe, no-pressure community around you
  • feel you’ve lost touch with your inspiration, spark, or direction in life
  • want to make space for something you’ve been pushing away (tiredness? longing? grief? …)
  • feel stuck in the hamster wheel, or sense you want to live and act differently - but aren’t sure what the next step looks like
  • want to recalibrate before stepping into the next version of you
  • feel a small flutter in your body as you read this (even if you don’t quite know why..)

This is for you if what you need right now isn’t more workshops or methods, but a place where the pace drops and your thoughts can clear. A place to simply be with what is  - in peace, in nature, in your own rhythm.

Practicalities

🛏️ BEAUTIFUL, RESTFUL ACCOMMODATION
You’ll stay in a private room where you can land undisturbed. The room is designed in a warm Nordic style, created to offer both rest and remind about the connection to nature. You can retreat here whenever you want - this is your space for the entire stay. Each room has a bed, desk, and wardrobe. Shared toilets and shower rooms.

📵 DIGITAL REST
To protect the stillness, the shared spaces are laptop- and phone-free. If you need to get something digital done during the day, you may do so in your private room, but you’re really invited, as much as possible, to let these days be as empty as they can from screens and must-dos. If you’d like, you’re warmly welcome to hand in your phone upon arrival and get it back on departure day (you’ll receive an emergency contact to share with loved ones, so they can reach you if something urgent happens).

🥣 FOOD & FREEDOM
Breakfast/brunch is included and available self-serve whenever it suits you. There will be a generous selection of ingredients so you can begin your day in your own rhythm (bread, spreads, eggs, yoghurt, porridge, fruit, tea, coffee, and more). A tasty, nourishing vegetarian dinner is also included every day (Wed–Sat), so you can let go of all logistics. If you’d like something simple for lunch in between, you’re free to bring it and prepare it on-site however you want. There’s access to a fully equipped kitchen, fridges, and freezers.

🕊️ COMMUNITY & SAFETY
On Thursday, after breakfast, we’ll take a contemplative walk together - moving through the four directions - so you get to know the island, and she gets to know you. The walk asks nothing of you beyond your presence; you’ll be in silence with your focus on nature and yourself. It takes about 1 hour.

While this is a solo retreat, there’s also a gentle community to lean into. Those of us sharing the island will meet once a day for a short landing and check-in. Nothing complicated, nothing to perform—just a moment to soften together in shared presence. You choose whether you want to share a bit about what’s moving in you, or mostly listen in togetherness. The rest of the day is yours to fill (or rather not fill) exactly as you wish.

🕯️ PARTIAL SILENCE
There is something deeply powerful and potent in silence. When conversation falls away, a different kind of listening becomes possible — to your inner world, to the body, to nature, to the whole around you. During this retreat, we will step into a shared silence together for one full day. It will commence after the afternoon sharing and continue until before the sharing on the next day (probably Thursday until Friday).

You are also welcome to be in silence beyond this shared period, for as long or little as feels supportive to you. Upon arrival, you’ll receive a pin to wear, letting others know you’re in silence so your space can be respected. Silence does not mean separation — you are still invited to be fully part of the retreat space, simply without words.

🚤 TRANSPORT & ARRIVAL
Once you’re confirmed, we'll be in steady contact and you’ll receive clear instructions about times, departure point, and everything you need to know for a calm journey here. It takes about 2.5 hours to reach the island from central Stockholm. Upon arrival, we’ll meet you at the dock and show you to your room and introduce our shared spaces.

What your day might look like

Here, the day gets to unfold in its own time. No packed schedule with times to keep and activities you “should” join even when you don’t want to.

You listen inward—not outward.

Maybe you begin in quiet presence, hands warmed by a cup of coffee. A body slowly waking.

Maybe you wander out with a blanket and disappear a little into the moss, the light, and the hush of waves.

Maybe you rest by a fire that burns like something ancient, letting the rhythm of the flames become your own.

Maybe you sit down in the little art corner where the colours are laid out without instruction, or curl up in a quiet nook with a blanket and a book.

Maybe you stay in bed for a long time, listening to your breath, watching the sunlight slowly move across the floor.

Maybe you move gently through the day, letting thoughts sink like stones in water, and enjoying the relief of not having to know anything today.

Here, conversations may arise—but silence is also a welcome language. You choose whether community is a passing smile, a few words by the fire, or simply the feeling of not being alone.

There is space to feel, but no expectation to process or explain - not even to yourself.

You simply get to be - as you are - in the rhythm your body and soul choose.

Our home

Our shared home during your stay is the private island Norra Ekskäret, in the outer Stockholm archipelago. The island is owned and run by the non-profit Ekskäret Foundation, whose purpose and mission is to help us understand the world we are creating—and to make brave spaces possible, where people can explore and work with their inner development. Other initiatives that have the island as their base include Inner Development Goals, Elevate, Spark Changemakers, Protus, 29k Foundation, and Emerge Lakefront.

The modern facilities are designed in a way that makes you feel completely held by nature, even when you’re indoors. There are beautiful paths that circle the entire island, and it takes about 15 minutes to walk all the way around.

To me, it’s one of the most beautiful and special places in the whole world, and I’m deeply grateful and happy that we get to be there, together 🙏

From me to you 🤍

For many years, I, like so many others, have lived in environments where pace, performance, and constant growth are the norm. Getting stuck in doing, and in images of how life “should” be - bigger, better, faster.

And at the same time, a tiredness grew.
A longing for something simpler, softer, more in tune. For a life where I'd get to breathe and simply be - without having to earn it first.

Sanctum was born from this longing. And from the healing I’ve felt in different contexts when I’ve been in stillness or silence together with other people.

With Sanctum, I want to create a pause where you can rest from the demands, let go of the pace, and allow your nervous system to settle. A space where your thoughts can soften and your inner world can catch up - in a safe, holding context alongside others who are on their own journeys too.

It’s not about searching further away, but about making space for what is already here - beneath the noise, beyond the doing.

A warm welcome. Exactly as you are.

With love,
Jonna
